CHC and Cristo Rey Philadelphia HS Partner on Scholarship Program

Jodie meeting with Cristo Rey Principal Michael Gomez

Chestnut Hill College is pleased to announce a partnership with Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School that will offer two, $20,000 annual scholarships to be awarded to first-year students entering Chestnut Hill College each fall from Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School.

“I am thrilled about our partnership with Chestnut Hill College,” says Cristo Rey Principal Michael Gomez. “After meeting with their team, I know that our students will be cared for until they graduate. Having a partnership like this one helps make college affordable to our students.”

The scholarship will honor graduates from Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School who exemplify the spirit of holistic education and service embodied by the Jesuits and the Sisters of Saint Joseph. Beginning in the fall 2016, the scholarship will be awarded for full-time, traditional enrollment in the School of Undergraduate Studies and will be renewable for up to eight consecutive semesters. As expected, high school seniors from Cristo Rey must meet all of Chestnut Hill College’s admissions requirements to be considered for the scholarship.

“We believe that each and every student who comes to Chestnut Hill College has the opportunity to benefit from a mission-based, curriculum rich, Catholic liberal arts education offered in an inclusive environment,” said President Carol Jean Vale, SSJ, Ph.D. “Our schools have a similar mission of engaging students from the first encounter through graduation.  Our vision is that Cristo Rey students will experience a seamless transition from high school into academia that will prepare them for life’s challenges by helping them to grow intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, and socially.”
