College Participates in National Survey for Student Engagement

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Chestnut Hill students! Are you interested in improving educational programs and activities? Use your voice and make sure you complete the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) this year!

On February 11, the invitation to participate will be sent to selected students via email. The higher the student participation, the more accurate reports will be about the student experience at CHC. The survey can be completed via email and takes twenty minutes.

The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE or “Nessie” for short) collects information annually about student participation in college programs and activities. The results show how undergraduates spend their time and what they gain from attending college.

The NSSE survey is conducted by the Center for Postsecondary Research in the Indiana University School of Education. Approximately 4 million students from 1,500 different colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada have participated in NSSE since it was first administered in 2000. Chestnut Hill has participated in 2007 and 2010.

The NSSE survey items focus on “best practices” by students and by colleges and universities that are empirically confirmed to lead to the desired outcomes of a college education. NSSE then produces reports that compare Chestnut Hill students' responses with those of students at other colleges and universities. Chestnut Hill College is committed to use this information to plan improvements in future programs and activities.
