PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Soldiers Project of Pennsylvania will host a screening of the groundbreaking, award-winning documentary “The Invisible War” on Wednesday, November 13 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in the East Parlor, St. Joseph Hall on the College campus. The screening will be followed by a discussion of the film and available resources in combatting the epidemic of military sexual trauma.
In 2012 alone, the United States Department of Defense estimated that 26,000 military members had experienced unwanted sexual contact. “The Invisible War” exposes the sexual assault and rape epidemic within the military through interviews with victims, high-ranking military officials, and even members of Congress. Victims share their emotional, tragic stories in hopes of educating civilians and military officials on the damage created by military sexual trauma.
Founded in 2004, The Soldiers Project is a private, non-profit, independent group that provides free, confidential psychological treatment to military service members who have served or expect to serve in Iraq or Afghanistan, as well as their families and loved ones.
The screening is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact The Soldiers Project of Pennsylvania at 215.242.7736 or email thesoldiersprojectsoutheast@chc.edu.
