Music Business Expert Jerry Goolsby to Speak at Business Leaders of Uncommon Excellence Lecture Series

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Jerry Goolsby, Ph.D. will present the lecture “Music and Business: Marriage of Convenience or Synergistic Partnership?” on Monday, November 11 at 4:00 p.m. in the East Parlor, St. Joseph Hall.

The music industry is often the subject of scrutiny. How can artists cash in on their music without selling out? Dr. Goolsby, who has led a successful career in the music industry, will address the dilemma many artists face while making a career in music and the arts, showing that some artists, with proper training, don’t have to sell out in order to have a successful career.

Dr. Goolsby earned his Ph.D. from Texas Tech University, following a successful career in the musical instrument industry. He has served as a research consultant to companies and industry associations, including serving as a governor of The Recording Academy, which hosts the Grammy awards. Dr. Goolsby is also a professor at Loyola University New Orleans, where he teaches classes in quality methods, market research, sales management, marketing management, marketing theory, and marketing ethics.

Now in its second year, the Business Speaker Series aims to raise students’ awareness and understanding of current business issues and encourage meaningful interactions and collaboration between students and the greater community.

The lecture is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Barbara Diemer, MBA, M.Ed., assistant professor of business and coordinator of the Business Speaker Series at 215.248.7033.
