PHILADELPHIA, PA – John Ebersole, MFA, director of the Writing Center at the College has been named poetry editor at the Philadelphia Review of Books, a general interest, Philadelphia-centric online magazine that presents reviews of new books, essays and narratives on topics such as politics, literature, art, film, sports, food, science and the media.
A previous contributor to the Review, Ebersole has taught at the College since 2007. He is also the host of New Books in Poetry, a podcast that interviews America's leading poets about their work. His poems and reviews have appeared or are forthcoming in The Philadelphia Review of Books, Southern Humanities Review, Coldfront Magazine, Octopus Magazine,Western Humanities Review, storySouth, Battersea Review, and in other publications.
“When Michael Buozis, the editor of The Philadelphia Review of Books, invited me to become poetry editor, I was humbled and ecstatic,” says Ebersole. “The position provides me not only the opportunity to advocate for poetry in general, but for the literary culture right here in Philadelphia. But it's more than an opportunity. Being poetry editor is really a position of stewardship. The Philadelphia Review of Books is bigger than any one editor. Currently residing in Erdenheim, Ebersole received his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and his MFA from Columbia University.
