Quidditch, Magic, and Mystery Abound 4th Annual Philadelphia Brotherly Love Cup Quidditch Tournament & Harry Potter Festival

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Grab your broomsticks, buy a new wand and prepare for a magical weekend of activities October 18-19 at the 4th Annual Philadelphia Brotherly Love Cup Quidditch Tournament at Chestnut Hill College and Harry Potter Festival in Chestnut Hill.

Throughout the Chestnut Hill neighborhood, the festival will include spellbinding events and fun-filled festivities will keep children and adults, wizards and muggles entertained. Dumbledore will preside over an opening ceremony on Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. at the Top of the Hill Fountain Plaza with a Quidditch team pep rally, a thestral from Northwestern Stables, and characters from the Harry Potter books. Later that evening, adult wizards and muggles are invited to indulge in some butter beers and join the Harry Potter pub crawl.

On Saturday, cheer on your favorite Quidditch team at the 4th Annual Philadelphia Brotherly Love Cup at Chestnut Hill College from10 a.m.-6 p.m. on the softball field. Free and open to the public, the tournament showcases 8 college Quidditch teams from the Philadelphia area and beyond and will feature two Quidditch pitches with games played simultaneously for spectators to view. The best three teams will compete for the Cup in the final bracket of the tournament. Enjoy fall foods, potions demonstrations, Quidditch merchandise for sale, and other fun surprises. 

Quidditch teams participating include Chestnut Hill College, Lafayette College, Shippensburg University, Kutztown University, the Philadelphia Honey Badgers (formerly the Del Val Dragons), Penn State University, New Jersey Nargles, and Franklin and Marshall College. The tournament runs rain or shine. 

On Saturday, the shops and restaurants of Chestnut Hill will magically change into places right off the pages of the Harry Potter books, offering food, drink, and retail promotions. Come visit the Leaky Cauldron, Madam Puddifoot’s Tea Shop, Weasley’s Wizarding Wheeezes, Hogwarts Greenhouse and many more. Hop on the complimentary Knight Bus Trolley in Chestnut Hill and stroll the avenue for the variety of activities, magic shows, and costume contests. Children will delight in Woodmere Art Museum’s Dumbledore’s Powers Maze, Defense against the Dark Arts Classes, “The Hunt for the Horcrux” activity stations up and down the avenue, and a closing ceremony at Norwood-Fontbonne Academy. 

Taking public transportation to Chestnut Hill is encouraged for wizards and muggles alike. On Saturday, October 19, the complementary Hogwarts Express Shuttle will be making stops at the Chestnut Hill West Station all day, with stops at Chestnut Hill College and the Top of the Hill.
