College Introduces New Majors in Digital Forensics and Computer Systems Management

PHILADELPHIA, PA – This fall, the School of Undergraduate Studies at Chestnut Hill College will begin offering a Bachelor of Science degree in Digital Forensics and in Computer Systems Management as well as a concentration in Sports Management.  

Students interested in the Computer Systems Management major will study selected courses in Business and Computer Technology that will serve as preparation for managing computer systems and will provide the necessary training to plan and coordinate computer related activities within a business or organization. Required courses in the major include: System Analysis and Design, Financial Accounting, Principles of Management, Applied Operating Systems, Java, and Database Programming. 

The Digital Forensics major, one of the few such programs in the Philadelphia area, will prepare students for work in this growing and cutting edge industry with a firm background of Digital Forensics, Computer Programming and Data Communication, along with the corresponding coursework in Criminal Justice and Law. Coursework includes: Legal Issues and Digital Forensics, Advanced Digital Forensics, Cyber Security, Legal and Technical Writing, and Criminal Procedure. 

The Sports Management concentration within the Business major is designed for students who are interested in the management, marketing, finance, public relations and legal aspects of the sports industry. The concentration features a strong base of general education requirements in English, communication, humanities, business, mathematics, and social and natural sciences. The Sports Management concentration features select courses in: Sports Marketing, Sports Finance, Sports Law, Event and Facilities Management, Media and Community Relations, and Leadership and Administration.
