College Expands Psychological Services Clinic in Flourtown

PHILADELPHIA, PA –The Department of Professional Psychology at Chestnut Hill College has expanded their offerings and hours at the Psychological Services Clinic of Chestnut Hill College in Flourtown, Pa. to better serve the local community.

Since October 2011, the Psychological Services Clinic of Chestnut Hill College (PSC-CHC) has provided affordable psychoeducational, psychosocial and diagnostic assessment services to children, adolescents, college students and older adults living in the greater Philadelphia area. Beginning in July 2013, the clinic will also offer outpatient therapy services.

All testing and assessments at the clinic are conducted by practicum students and pre-doctoral interns enrolled in the College’s Doctor of Psychology program. Licensed clinical psychologists on the faculty of the College’s Department of Professional Psychology will directly supervise all of the assessments. Fees for services are negotiated based on a client’s ability to pay.

The clinic provides a wide range of assessment services, ranging from brief diagnostic tests to comprehensive batteries. These include assessment for learning disabilities, ADHD, intellectual abilities, academic achievement, personality and behavior disorders, in addition to clinical/diagnostic assessment. In July, the clinic will also provide individual and family outpatient treatment for difficulties including anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, and stress, in addition to relationship, couples, and family problems. All treatment is individualized based on the client’s specific needs.

“The ability to offer income-sensitive, high quality, comprehensive psychological assessment services to the local community while providing hands-on, high quality supervision to our clinical psychology doctoral students has been a win-win for Chestnut Hill College and the communities we serve,” said Cheryll Rothery, Psy.D., ABPP, associate professor of psychology and chair of the Department of Professional Psychology. “We eagerly anticipate the expansion of the clinic this fall and the opportunity to offer psychotherapy to individuals of all ages as well as couples and families. We will continue to provide income-sensitive rates, and high-quality supervision of the work of our talented doctoral-trainee clinicians.”
