Annual Celebration of Pi Day!

Annual Celebration of Pi Day!

March 14, 2024 - 12:00pm to 3:00pm
Location:
Math Resource Center (SJ 335)

Chestnut Hill College's Annual Celebration of Pi Day is sure to be a fun event for all - even the non-math loving among us. Stop by the Math Center from 12PM - 3PM on Pi Day (3.14) for free pie, puzzles, a pie baking contest, and the chance to pie your professor!

All Day Events:

  • Free pie! – we will have slices of pie available all day for sampling … or at least, while supplies last.
  • Pi Scavenger Hunt – find our hidden pie tokens around campus and return them to the MRC for prizes and earn raffle tickets for the Pie Your Professor event (see below).
  • Pi recital contest – earn more raffle tickets for the Pie Your Professor event by reciting digits of pi from memory.  Bonus tickets for the student who recites the most digits!  (I’ll get you started:  3.14…)
  • Pi-zzles and activities – do crossword puzzles, sudoku puzzles, coloring sheets, and other pencil-and-paper activities for still more Pie Your Professor raffle tickets!
  • Submit your pie for our annual Pie Baking Contest – open to faculty, staff, and students!  Submit your favorite pie to the MRC any time before the judging, which will commence after the Pie Your Professor ceremony (see below).

Scheduled-Time Events:

12:00 noon   Jeoπdy! trivia game – test your “pi” trivia knowledge.  I don’t know, but I’d guess that there might be Pie Your Professor raffle tickets involved…

1:59:26 pm   Pie Your Professor – At 3.14 1:59:26 p.m. we will draw from the pool of raffle tickets for the chance to Pie Your Professor.  First winner gets first choice of target, second winner gets second choice (can’t choose same target as first winner – each professor gets pied only once), and third winner gets final choice.
