Commuter Life

Commuter Resources

Whether by bus, train, or car, our regionally diverse commuter population contributes a great deal to our vibrant campus community. Commuter students have many great opportunities to get involved, in a variety of clubs activities, be challenged academically, and to meet new friends from places both near and far. In addition, CHC provides great resources to support students who choose not to live on campus.

Commuter Assistant Program

The Commuter Assistant Program, established in the 2015-2016 academic year, takes upperclassmen, who have experience with either residential life on campus or commuter life off campus, and pairs them with first year commuters in hopes that a lasting bond will be created. Commuter assistants act as a bridge between two unique experiences, that as a resident and that as a commuter, with the mission of creating a closely knit CHC community where both commuters and residents come together and learn from each other.

Throughout the year, the Commuter Assistants will facilitate fun social gatherings around campus that will be planned to accommodate commuters’ schedules. The Commuter Assistants also act as a resource that commuters can easily access for information about: SEPTA, commuter meal plans, student life, etc.

If you have any questions about the CA program, please contact: activities@chc.edu.

Commuter Lounge

Located on the Ground Floor of Saint Joseph Hall near the bookstore, the Commuter Lounge is the number one destination spot for students looking for a place to study or relax in between classes.

The lounge features Wi-Fi, tables, couches, vending machines, and a campus television advertising events and information.

Lockers

Available on a first-come, first-served basis, commuter students may sign up for a locker in the HUB (near the Griffin’s Den). There is no cost for using a locker and CHC will provide  a lock. Lockers for commuters are located in the Griffin’s Den in Fournier Hall.

Parking

Commuter students are eligible for parking on campus starting during their first year.

All vehicles operated and parked on College property by full- and part-time students, faculty, staff and vendors must be registered with the College. Students may obtain parking permits online.

Permits should be acquired before the beginning of the school year. Parking regulations will be enforced beginning the second full week of school. Registrations must be renewed at the beginning of each academic year starting August 15.
