Celebrate the Past. Shape the Future.
Welcome to Chestnut Hill College!
Founded by the Sisters of Saint Joseph in 1924, Chestnut Hill College (CHC) is an institution steeped in tradition yet ever-changing and innovating to meet the needs of today’s students. This year marks the 100th anniversary of our beloved College, and we will celebrate this historic milestone throughout the year ahead. In this centennial year, our close-knit community remains committed to active service in pursuit of social justice, creative thinking, and responsible action toward a more unified global society and sustainable Earth. Further, we are proud to offer our students a transformative, holistic education grounded in experiential learning and focusing on the creation of meaningful solutions to real-world problems.
At the heart of Chestnut Hill College is a culture of inclusion that promotes equity and celebrates the diversity of our community. This commitment was born out of the mission and ministry of the Sisters of Saint Joseph. Today, this tradition permeates every aspect of the CHC experience, from academics to athletics to student groups and beyond. This is truly a special community in which every member strives to exemplify our core values and live in service to our Dear Neighbors.
With the division and challenges facing our world, a liberal arts education has never been more invaluable or more necessary to the health and well-being of our collective future. The ability to communicate clearly, compassionately, and effectively, find creative solutions to complex problems, collaborate, find compromise, and to lead and build consensus – hallmarks of liberal arts – are thoughtfully integrated into every aspect of the CHC academic experience.
Our interdisciplinary Academic Center Model ensures that students not only receive training and gain expertise in their chosen fields of study, but they also gain skills necessary for success in their future careers and in their daily lives as well. Not one to rest on our past successes, we continue to grow and innovate in our academic programming to meet the needs of today’s students and those who will call CHC home in the years ahead.
The College has launched a cadre of new programs (with even more to come), including an exciting and dynamic, fully online MBA in Strategic Management. Designed for students from any background looking to advance their careers in our ever-changing business world, this market-driven program adults the flexibility to curate innovative business knowledge and advance their strategic mindset to become leaders within high performing teams and organizations.
In addition, CHC is proud to bring Nursing programs to campus, helping to address a critical workforce need affecting our local, regional, and national communities. Our first offering is the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and we will welcome our first students into this intellectually rigorous program in fall of 2024. The four-year, 120 credit BSN program is designed for traditional undergraduate students. It features a modern, hands-on curriculum delivered in beautiful, state-of-the-art facilities, designed with the flexibility to meet the needs of a wide range of both traditional and non-traditional students.
Offering the benefits of being part of a close-knit College family in a beautiful, garden-district setting while being located just minutes away from the vibrant urban Center City of Philadelphia, one of the largest and most historically vital cities in the United States, with access to a wide array of cultural and professional opportunities, Chestnut Hill College is truly a higher education institution like no other.
The powerful interplay of the living mission and legacy of the Sisters of Saint Joseph combined with a leading-edge liberal arts education set within the vibrancy of Philadelphia sets the Chestnut Hill College experience apart.
