Nursing Clinical Arts Center (NCAC)
Renovations have been completed on the College’s brand new Nursing Clinical Arts Center, which opened in August 2025. Much of these renovations took place on the College’s SugarLoaf campus, home to the new program. The former conference center was transformed into a state-of-the-art instructional facility that includes a new basic skills lab, teaching and office spaces, and a health assessment lab, among other spaces. In addition, the College, through the Center for Nursing, is upgrading existing science labs at Saint Joseph Hall on its main campus to coincide with the launch of nursing and the creation of the Regina Cuta-Papa, M.D., endowed professors of biology and chemistry.
What Sets the Nursing Clinical Arts Center Apart?
Chestnut Hill College’s NCAC is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies designed to help simulate for students, a real-world hospital environment. This is accomplished through multiple avenues including:
- Health Assessment Room – complete with 10 examination, privacy screens and all the equipment needed to teach health assessment skills including taking blood pressures, temperatures, pulse oximeter readings, heart, lung, neurological, and gastrointestinal assessments and more.
- Skills Lab – four beds and two stretchers to accommodate for low fidelity mannequins make up the skills lab. In this room, students will learn all the skills needed for patient care including basic comfort care along with technical skills such as care of IVs, administering injections, suctioning, wound and ostomy care, tracheostomy care, catheter insertion, tube feedings, and more. The use of both real hospital simulated supplies and teaching aides helps to ensure this lab experience will prepare students for real-life patient experiences.
- KbPort – this mobile medicine car enhances the experience found in the sim labs as through it, nursing educators will be able to simulate realistic medication workflow and reinforce patient safety protocols and best practices. The KbPort provides a simulated Electronic Medical Record, printable patient arm bands, bar code scanners and a complete medication formulary. This system provides the students with a comprehensive tool for medication delivery and clinical care.
