Chestnut Hill College Director of Athletics and Recreation, Jesse Balcer, is pleased to announce E-Sports as the 19th intercollegiate program in the College's athletic catalog. "E-Sports gives Chestnut Hill College an opportunity to add the fastest growing sport to our institution," Balcer stated. "It is not a men's sport and it's not a women's sport, but it is an all-inclusive sport. That was the most attractive aspect of E-Sports and I am really excited to see what the program can do for the College community as a whole."

The College, which will be joining the East Coast Conference as associate members, becomes the ninth member of ECC E-Sports. They join full-time league members, Daemen College, Mercy College, Molloy College, New York Institute of Technology, and St. Thomas Aquinas and associate members, Farmingdale State College, Southern New Hampshire University and St. Joseph’s College (Long Island).

“We are pleased to bring Chestnut Hill College on board as a new member of ECC Esports,” said ECC Commissioner, Dr. Robert Dranoff. “We have had a relationship with Chestnut Hill for many years, most recently as an associate member of the East Coast Conference in Women's Bowling, and are happy to continue our partnership with them in this growing sport. ECC Esports continues to grow and provide exciting, competitive opportunities and experiences to all the men and women participating. Welcome to Chestnut Hill College!”

ECC Esports heads into its third season during the 2020-21 academic year. The league has offered championships in Overwatch, League of Legends, and Rocket League and continues to explore the addition of new games to its roster.

The ECC was the second NCAA Division II conference to offer an E-Sports championship, joining the Peach Belt Conference, which rolled out their initial league schedule in 2017-2018.

A search for Chestnut Hill College's first E-Sports Head Coach will commence immediately. With the season looming this fall, there is an immediate need for students to apply, so they can be part of the inaugural E-Sports team at Chestnut Hill College.
