Exercise Science

Through coursework and hands on experience, the Exercise Science program provides students a strong foundation in the human movement sciences. Students will be prepared to better the lives of individuals in their community through teaching healthy lifestyle changes, encouraging others to meet or exceed their physical expectations, or aiding clients in regaining back their health and functional ability. 

Why Study Exercise Science at CHC?

The Exercise Science program at Chestnut Hill College provides students with a strong understanding of the scientific and behavioral aspects of human movement, fitness, and wellness. The knowledge and skill gained through this program can be used by students to promote health and wellness through a variety of clinical careers after graduation. 

The program mixes academic and hands-on experiences with the most up-to-date information in the field. Students will be well prepared to enter a graduate program or career in the exercise science or allied health professions.

CHC also holds articulation agreements with the following institutions:

  • Thomas Jefferson University: Athletic Training
  • Salus University: Occupational Therapy
  • Gwynedd Mercy University: Accelerated Nursing

After completing the CHC Exercise Science major, students will be prepared to sit for three highly respected and well-known certification exams: 

  • American College of Sports Medicine Certified Exercise Physiologist 
  • American College of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer 
  • National Strength and Conditioning Association's Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist

Students have completed a variety of internships in such locations as Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania, ATI Physical Therapy, Theraplay, Kinney Autism Center, NovaCare, and Tribe Training and Wellness.
