Uncover a mission meant to be lived
Founded in 1924, we are proud to be a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia. We are Catholic in the spirit of the Sisters – welcoming and appreciating the gifts of all.

Grounded in our strong liberal arts tradition, attentive to the need for informed professional education, and faithful to our Catholic heritage and intellectual tradition, Chestnut Hill College espouses the beliefs and values inherent in the Abrahamic faith traditions and welcomes and respects the contributions made by other faiths in the development of the whole person.
Our five core values expand on our mission and describe how we live and learn with integrity and compassion. For 100+ years, Chestnut Hill College has been bringing these values to life every day through its diverse and inclusive campus community that welcomes the contributions of each member.
We nurture integrity, spirituality, and dedication to justice in and for all. We value and commit to engaging in the work of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The Office for Mission & Ministry ensures that our mission is integrated throughout the whole of the Chestnut Hill College experience, making us better students, educators, and citizens of the world.
Through campuswide programming, we strive to serve all without distinction in the spirit of our Founders’ charism of unifying love.
We seek to engage both heart and mind, and give students a groundwork to discover who they are and who they’re becoming through service, spirituality, and community.
We seek to address food insecurity among students. By offering free access to food, it helps alleviate hunger and ensures that students can focus on their development.
We seek to nurture a culture where oneness overcomes divisions, grudges and wrongs lead to forgiveness, and people walk the road to reconciliation together.
We seek to celebrate the SSJ mission to serve the Dear Neighbor without distinction by cultivating a campus environment marked by equity, diversity, and inclusion.
