Course Highlights

ALGORITHMS IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND ROBOTICS (CMSC 285) -Students learn some of the basic algorithms and techniques used in Artificial Intelligence, including searching algorithms and algorithms used in two player games. Students are also introduced to the fundamentals of robotics. Students write programs that use the robot’s sensors and actuators so that the robot may perceive and move around in its environment.

MOBILE APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT (CMSC 305) -Students learn the fundamentals of mobile application development using the Android and iOS technologies. Students are introduced to cross platform frameworks that allow mobile applications to be built for both iOS and Android with a single codebase and programming language. Interface design, notifications and database interaction are also covered.

COMPUTER GRAPHICS DESIGN/PHOTOSHOP (CMTC 210)  - Students learn the essentials of image enhancement and develop the skills needed to edit graphics. Students explore the basic concepts of color correction, photo retouching, compositing (photo montages), photographic manipulation, and the preparation of images for use on the World Wide Web. Image resolution, color models and printing issues are also covered. Upon the completion of this course students should be prepared to become an Adobe Certified Professional in Photoshop.

All students majoring in Computer and Information Technology will need their own laptop with the following minimum specifications:

  • Operating System - Windows 11 (64bit version only)
  • Memory - Minimum 8 GB RAM
  • Processor - Intel Core i5 or Intel Core i7 (2.0 GHz or better) CPU must support Virtualization Technologies
  • Hard disk - Minimum 256 GB Solid State Drive (SSD) or larger
