Chestnut Hill College seeks a Payroll Accountant to ensure accurate, timely payroll processing, maintain precise financial records, and support compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
Purpose
The Payroll Accountant plays a key role in fostering positive employee experience and upholding the College’s financial accuracy and compliance. This part-time, on-site position offers flexible scheduling and is expected to transition to a full-time role in Fall 2026, when additional accounting-related responsibilities will be added.

Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and on schedule.
- Maintain employee payroll records, including payrates, benefits, tax exemptions, overtime, leave, and personal information.
- Create and manage ADP profiles for new hires; process hire and change paperwork.
- Generate and analyze payroll and deduction reports, including benefits, garnishments, and retirement contributions.
- Administer benefit deductions (e.g., medical, dental, life, disability)and reconcile benefits invoices to payroll deductions.
- Serve as the primary payroll contact for employees; coordinate payroll data with Human Resources.
- Prepare payroll journal entries and reconcile monthly payroll liabilities.
- Track student worker payroll data and reconcile student Federal Work-Study awards and wages in collaboration with the Financial Aid Department to ensure accurate funding allocation and payroll processing.
- Maintain confidentiality of payroll information and records.
- Assist with accounts payable, account reconciliations, and financial audits.
- Perform additional accounting duties as assigned by the Controller or CFO.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or equivalent combination of education and payroll/general ledger experience.
- 3–5 years of payroll processing experience in a complex payroll environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ADP systems.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and interact effectively at all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectfully with a diverse student body and employee population.
- Higher education experience is preferred.
- Professional, positive, and collaborative approach.
