Parents or Guardians and New Students:
Thank you for your interest in Chestnut Hill College! We understand that the transition to college can be a difficult one. The following is a brief overview of the services offered at the Health Office.
The Chestnut Hill Health office is staffed by registered nurses, a nurse practitioner, and overseen by our physician consultant, Dr. Erik Soiferman.
We are able to see you for routine ambulatory care and acute illnesses, appointments are not needed. The Health Office is open Monday-Thursday 8:00am-4:00pm and Friday 8:00am-3:00pm. The nurses are able to perform routine tests such as rapid strep screens, urine dips and we have a variety of over-the-counter medications available. The nurse practitioner is available to diagnose and write prescriptions as needed and nearby pharmacies with free delivery service are available to the college should you require prescription medication.
Chestnut Hill Hospital is less than a mile away from our campus, we can arrange transport to the hospital if you were to require more emergent care. The College’s shuttle buses also run past the hospital so the students can go to the hospital for routine lab work or doctor’s appointments. There are several urgent care centers close to the college as well, with shuttle service to at least one of these available on the weekends.
All services provided at the Health Office are confidential. Parents are welcome to call and provide us with information regarding your student, but we cannot discuss your student’s visit with you without a signed release from your student.
We strongly encourage students to carry personal health insurance although this is not required. Students are able to visit the health office at any time during the semester free of charge through the health services fee. Please visit healthcare.gov for more information about health insurance resources. At this time there is no health insurance available through the college.
We require all incoming students to complete health forms via our hosting site Med-Proctor. This include a TB risk assessment questionnaire, a current physical exam and a vaccination record. Students are required to create a Med-Proctor account with their CHC email address here: https://secure.medproctor.com/Account/SignIn
Please feel free to contact us with any questions you might have about our services. We can be reached at 215-248-7111 or via email at FitzmauriceJ@chc.edu.
The staff at the Chestnut Hill College Health Office welcomes you and your student and hope you have a successful and healthy year!
