New Student Information

Parents/Guardians and New Students:

Thank you for your interest in Chestnut Hill College!  We understand that the transition to college can be a difficult one.  The following is a brief overview of the services offered in Student Health.

The Student Health office at Chestnut Hill College is staffed by a registered nurse, a nurse practitioner and is overseen by our physician consultant.

We are able to see you for routine ambulatory care and acute illnesses, appointments are not needed. Student Health is open Monday-Thursday 8:30am-4:00pm and Friday 8:30am-3:00pm.  The nurse is able to perform routine tests such as rapid strep screens, urine dips and we have a variety of over the counter medications available.  The nurse practitioner is available to diagnose and write prescriptions as needed. Nearby pharmacies with free delivery services are available to the college should you require prescription medication.

Chestnut Hill Hospital is less than a mile away from our campus, we can arrange transport to the hospital if you were to require more emergent care.  The College’s shuttle buses also run past the hospital so the students can go to the hospital for routine lab work or doctor’s appointments.  There are several urgent care centers close to the college as well, with shuttle service to at least one of these available during the week and on the weekends.

All services provided in Student Health are confidential. Parents are welcome to call and provide us with information regarding your student, but we cannot discuss your student’s visit with you without a signed release from your student.

We strongly encourage students to carry personal health insurance although it is not required. Students are able to visit the health office at any time during the semester free of charge through the health services fee, however, some testing/procedures and prescriptions are available for an additional fee, due at the time of service. At this time there is no health insurance available through the college. Please visit healthcare.gov for more information about health insurance resources.

We require all incoming students to complete health forms prior to starting school. This includes a current physical exam, updated vaccination record, a TB risk assessment questionnaire. These documents can be found on the NEW STUDENT GUIDE on the portal at my.chc.edu . Student-Athletes are ONLY required to complete the athletics packet.

Student Health is not open 24hrs a day, therefore we encourage students to bring a small first aid kit. Some suggestions include band aids, antibiotic ointment, decongestants, cough drops, a thermometer, Ibuprofen/Tylenol, allergy medicine.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions you might have about our services.

The Student Health staff at Chestnut Hill College welcomes you and your student and hope you have a successful and healthy year!

Sincerely,

Your Student Health Care Team
