The Natural Sciences and Scripture point to creation as a paradigm setting occasion for all of subsequent life. We use a Process perspective to explore that cosmic launch, and shine light on the ways that Torah and its commentaries also live out this integration of science and faith.
Rabbi Dr. Bradley Shavit Artson, Mordecai Kaplan Distinguished Scholar, will lead the discussion. He has worked as the Abner and Rosyln Goldstine Dean’s Chair of the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies since July 2000 while also serving as Vice President of American Jewish University in Los Angeles. A professor in the philosophy department, he is also Rabbinic Leader of the Abraham Joshua Heschel Seminary in Potsdam, Germany, ordaining Conservative rabbis for Europe, after founding the first Conservative/Masorti seminary in Europe since the Holocaust.
