Join the Office of Student Engagement to celebrate Sofya Kovalevskaya Day. Kovalevskaya was a Russian mathematician that is considered one of the greatest known female scientists prior to the 20th Century. She was a pioneer in her field, becoming the first woman ever to earn a doctorate in mathematics and the first woman appointed to a full professorship in northern Europe. She was one of the first women to work for a scientific journal as an editor.

To celebrate the day, we’ll be showing the film Hidden Figures, which also looks at the story of pioneering women who worked in the space industry during a critical time. Following the film, there will be a discussion on the contributions and impacts of women in STEM.

All are invited to join us. For first-year students, this is a PASSPORT event. Make sure to follow instructions to get your passport stamped.

Accommodation requests and/or physical access needs related to a disability should be made prior to the event. Please contact studentengagement@chc.edu.
