Integrated Humanities invites all students, faculty, and staff to our open classes (these are usually held in the Art Studio, but this one is not). These are regular classes focused on a compelling topic. You are warmly invited to attend.
Artist, musician, and PRA founder, Hilken Mancini pays a visit to the course, Art of Protest and Social Change (MCOM281) to share the history of the original DIY workout that says NO TO THE STATUS QUO and to limiting notions of beauty, fitness, and ability. Created back in 2000 (Y2K) Punk Rock Aerobics has been offering in-person classes in rock clubs, libraries and DIY spaces, featuring special guest DJs and using bricks for weights. We will learn about the impact PRA has had in its nontraditional approach to putting the F back in fitness (and fun) by providing a safe space that aims to inspire, empower and FLEX YER HEAD. We may even learn a couple moves like the WACKJACK or the SKANK in the process!
