Midnight Madness

Midnight Madness

Fans in the Bleachers

On October 13 the Chestnut Hill College men's and women's basketball teams welcomed the start of their season with Midnight Madness!

Midnight Madness is a pep rally combined with a showcase of talent by the players. Lucky fans were able to participate in shooting challenges or receive apparel as excitement built for the new season. Student spectators were ready to jump for the apparel thrown by members of both basketball teams. The women's team displayed their talent, fresh and returning, in a vintage version of six-on-six basketball. Following the women, the men's basketball team played a friendly five-on-five exhibition with one-on-one matchups and slam dunks, while women’s basketball players, Ayanna Dickey and Ayanna Holloway joined the fans in the bleachers to announce the match.

Men's Players to Watch

Some players to watch in this coming season are Kevin McWade, Ed McWade and Isaac Demetrius. Kevin McWade spent his freshman year last season on the bench due to an injury and looks ready to get on the court this season. Kevin’s brother, Ed, is a junior forward who had a career-high 23 points in the final game of the Griffin’s last playoff game last year. Junior guard, Demetrius, performed well last season with a strong start against the University of the District of Columbia, scoring 26 of the 93 points his team totaled in their victory.

Women's Players to Watch

Some women’s basketball players to watch this season are Jaeda Wildgoose, Mary Trossi and Caity Kuhnen. Wildgoose, a sophomore, received the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Year award and the All-CACC Third Team honor, from putting up 13.4 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game last season. Sophomore Trossi had a personal high during the previous season of 28 points in overtime wins for the Griffins. Senior Kuhnen finished her previous season as the fifth all-time scoring last season with 375 points at an average of 13.9 points per game.
