2019 Keynote Speaker

Beth Moy is Executive Director of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Consortium for Higher Education (SEPCHE), a collaborative of eight independent colleges and universities in the Philadelphia region.  Member institutions include: Arcadia University, Cabrini University, Chestnut Hill College, Gwynedd Mercy University, Holy Family University, Immaculata University, Neumann University and Rosemont College.  In addition to overseeing the budget, Beth manages consortium development efforts and nurtures relationships with community, foundation and government partners. Implementing the vision of the SEPCHE Presidents Council, Beth works with presidents and various SEPCHE committees and workgroups to improve teaching and learning and advance personal and organizational effectiveness through collaboration.

Beth has held positions at Moore College of Art & Design as an Academic Planning Consultant and former Director of Development and Capital Campaign Director launching and managing its $15 million capital campaign through its expansion to $30 million. She brings over eight years of experience in public policy and legislative advocacy having served as Director of Special Projects and former Director of Constituent Services for Philadelphia City Councilwoman-At-Large Happy Fernandez.

Beth serves as Vice President of the Association for Consortium Leadership, a professional organization of consortium executives from the U.S. and abroad. She is an officer of the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board and Montgomery County Industrial Development Authority.  Beth has presented nationally and internationally on various topics related to collaboration in higher education.  

Beth has an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Texas at Austin and a masters degree from the School of Social Administration at Temple University.

2018 Keynote Speaker

Jackie Hodes, Ed. D

Dr. Jacqueline Hodes currently serves West Chester University as an Associate Professor in Higher Education Policy and Student Affairs in the Department of Educational Foundations and Policy Studies. She teaches courses in Higher Education and Student Affairs and prepares graduate students for positions in these fields. Dr. Hodes has worked at WCU since 1986, starting her career in Student Affairs as the director of alcohol and drug education. Over 26 years as an administrator, Dr. Hodes served in many different capacities including director of the wellness center and the assistant to the vice-president for student affairs. She has had experience in student conduct, orientation, new student programs, student learning outcomes assessment, fundraising and development and many other areas in student affairs. Most notably, Dr. Hodes served for 18 years as the coordinator for LGBTQA services and continues to serve on the LGBTQA Advocacy Committee.

Deborah Olsen Nolan

As an undergraduate, Deborah studied classical piano and choral conducting.  Upon graduation, she blended teaching and administration, completed graduate work in higher education administration, and came to Ursinus, where she has served the campus for almost three decades now.  In her current role she has the distinct privilege of shaping the out of class services and programs that support  both the individual student and the student community.  She is an active member of NASPA, ACSA, and ATIXA.   

 

Deborah received her Bachelor of Arts in Music from Muskingum College and her Master of Arts in Educational Policy and Leadership from The Ohio State University.

Anita Foeman, Ph.D.

We are proud to announce Anita Foeman, Ph.D. as the 2016 Collaborative Conversations Keynote Speaker. Anita Foeman, Ph.D., holds the rank of Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at West Chester University. Dr. Foeman is a scholar of intercultural and organizational communication. She holds a B.A. from Defiance College, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Temple University. Dr. Foeman joined the faculty of West Chester University in 1982.

2015 Keynote Speaker

Jan Walbert, Ed.D.

Dr. Jan Walbert serves as Senior Consultant, Executive Search at Keeling & Associates. She is responsible for strategy, management, implementation, and quality assurance for K&A’s Executive Search services, including collaboration with NASPA-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education for Interim Executive Placement Services. Dr. Walbert has been a senior officer and leader in higher education throughout her career of more than 35 years. She served as Vice President for Student Affairs at Arcadia University for 21 years, with oversight of all traditional areas of campus life including residence life, student activities, career development, student health and counseling services, orientation, diversity programs, athletics and recreation, community service and campus facilities; thereafter, she worked in University Advancement, focusing on major and planned giving, building strong relationships with alumni and other major supporters of the University.

Her prior employment included other student affairs experience at Lehigh University, La Salle University, and Drexel University, with additional responsibilities for leadership development, alcohol and other drug education, and women’s issues.  Also, as an independent consultant, Dr. Walbert worked previously with Witt/Kieffer on executive searches and assisted several higher education and non-profit educationally-related organizations with strategic planning, implementation of fund-raising initiatives and executive coaching.

Dr. Walbert has served on numerous accreditation teams, including two sites abroad (in Switzerland and the United Kingdom), and has conducted many campus reviews. She earned her Doctor of Education degree from Lehigh University, focusing on higher education administration. She was the 2007-2008 President of NASPA, was named a Pillar of the Profession, and was selected by the Association as the 2011 recipient of the Fred Turner Award for Outstanding Service to NASPA.
