Quidditch Tournament FAQs

CHC is excited to host the 7th Annual Brotherly Love Cup. Muggles from 10 schools and communities will participate in exciting rounds of fast-paced quidditch play.

Give me the basics... What, Where, When, Who

Chestnut Hill College will host its Eighth Annual Brotherly Love Quidditch Tournament in October 2017 on the main campus at 9601 Germantown Ave. Philadelphia PA

The College will host outside Quidditch teams across the Mid-Atlantic in a round robin style tournament. “Muggle” Quidditch is a fast-paced, action-packed game that is cross between dodgeball, basketball and rugby. It features broomsticks, snitches and bludgers, just like the game made famous in J.K. Rowlings books.

Do spectators need to buy tickets? 

No! The event is free and open to the public.

How can I easily travel between Chestnut Hill and Chestnut Hill College?  

You can walk or take the Hogwarts Express shuttle that will run from the College to the Harry Potter Festival event and back. Please check the Getting Around Section.

Where can I find?


Many of our clubs and organizations will be selling baked goods and snacks on the Summerhouse Lawn.


The ATM is located in the Fournier Lobby and is Police and Fire Federal Credit Union.


Port-a-potties are located across from the softball on Murphy Drive. 


There will be limited seating at each Quidditch pitch. We encourage guests to bring their own chairs and blankets.


Harry Potter characters, chemistry potion demonstrations and more will be available!

What if there is inclement weather on the day of the tournament?

In the event of rain, we will still hold the tournament as long as the weather does not interfere with the safety of the players or spectators. In the event of severe weather, the tournament will likely be postponed or canceled.

 I am planning to drive to the tournament. Where should I park?  

Parking is extremely limited. We have minimal spots available and strongly encourage you to use SEPTA to Chestnut Hill West or Chestnut Hill East and take the shuttle or walk to campus. Uber/Lyft/Taxis are also alternative options.

What do I do if I drive but cannot find parking on campus?

We strongly encourage you to use public transportation to Chestnut Hill as parking is extremely limitedLimited parking will be available in the 5 public parking lots throughout Chestnut Hill. Limited parking will also be available at the Chestnut Hill Presbyterian Church (8855 Germantown Avenue) and United Cerebral Palsy of Philadelphia & Vicinity (102 E. Mermaid Lane).

What are the food options for the tournament?  

Chartwells, the College’s food service company, will be selling breakfast and lunch items including hot soup, turkey legs and much more! CHC's student clubs and organizations will be selling Harry Potter themed treats including butterbeer! Sales are cash only!

Will you be selling any t-shirts or other merchandise?

Yes! We will be selling t-shirts, broom pens, broom ornaments, scarves and sweatshirt blankets. We will have t-shirts available in children's sizes. Cash is preferred.

Will there be seating available for the tournament?

There will be limited seating available. We encourage you to bring blankets and/or chairs to watch the matches!

Due to heavy email/call volume, we are not able to offer specific advice on transportation, but encourage your to use public transportation if possible!

I want to play Quidditch at the tournament, how do I sign up?

Unfortunately, the tournament play is only for registered colleges, universities and community teams. We currently have a full tournament and are unable to accept any additional teams for our 2016 tournament. If you'd like to learn more about attending Chestnut Hill College, schedule a visit.
