2000 ELEANORE DOLAN EGAN '28 AWARD

JANE WILSON DUNNE '50

Jane Wilson Dunne has been a faithful and consistent volunteer to Chestnut Hill College through its Alumnae Association since her graduation in 1950. First serving on the Alumnae Board from 1950 to 1953, Jane turned her volunteer attention to the Class of 1950 and each of its class reunions since 1960. From that point, she served on the Reunion Weekend Committee six times over 25 years. She also volunteered for Reunion Weekend duty during her non-reunion years and chaired the entire Reunion Weekend in 1961.

Leadership roles continued, as Jane was elected Class President from 1965 to 1970 and Class Agent from 1970 to 1975. She returned to the Alumnae Board in 1969, first as a member, then successively as Secretary and Vice President and, in 1975, as Alumnae Association President. Along the way and on many evenings on the second floor of St. Joseph Hall, well before the days of personal computers, photocopiers, and efficient office equipment, Jane rolled up her sleeves with many other loyal alumnae and paid her volunteer dues in the all-important tasks of typing, mimeographing, and stapling reams of paper for alumnae mailings. And don't forget about the very critical job of stuffing envelopes -- all in the name of communication with and for Chestnut Hill's alumnae! Jane's volunteerism has not slowed down. In fact, she recently
co-chaired the Honors and Awards Planning Committee and now serves as a member of the Honors and Awards Committee.

Peg McCrossen Nugent '50, a friend, childhood neighbor and classmate from not only Chestnut Hill but also Holy Child parish and St. Mary's Academy, notes that "it is a pleasure to work with Jane because of her rare combination of talents, quick wit, intelligence, organizational ability, and giving generous credit to her co-workers who served with her. …No job was ever too large or too small for Jane." Anne Duffy Mirsch '52, Mary Levin Englebert '50, Nancy Dougherty Ward '50, and so many more agree. In addition, Jane contributed two alumnae to Chestnut Hill's rolls through daughters Jane Dunne Mack '75 and Anne Dunne Kelly '79. Jane's sister, Catherine Wilson O'Brien, is a member of the Class of 1948.

The Alumnae Association is proud to name Jane Wilson Dunne '50 the second recipient of the Eleanore Dolan Egan ’28 Award for Outstanding Service to Chestnut Hill College.
