Robert Schreiter C.PP.S. of the Catholic Theological Union to Discuss Reconciliation and Leadership

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Robert Schreiter, C.PP.S. Vatican Council II, professor of theology at the Catholic Theological Union, will present the lecture, “Formation for Leadership in Reconciliation" on Monday, March 25, at 7 p.m. in the East Parlor. The lecture is sponsored by the Institute for Forgiveness and Reconciliation at Chestnut Hill College.

The need for reconciliation is widely acknowledged, but how does one prepare for leadership in situations that call for reconciliation? Robert Schreiter, one of the leading figures in the study of reconciliation, will sketch out the knowledge, skills and attitudes that leaders need to undertake this arduous work. Since this lecture occurs during the Christian celebration of Holy Week, special attention will be given to what the narratives of this week can teach us about leadership for reconciliation.

Robert Schreiter is a priest and member of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood. He has published 17 books in the areas of inculturation, world mission, and reconciliation, and has chapters in more than 120 books, and more than 150 articles in academic and church journals. His publications have appeared in 21 languages.

He is past president of both the American Society of Missiology and the Catholic Theological Society of America. In addition to being a guest professor at various universities in Germany and the Netherlands, he has lectured in more than 50 countries around the world. For 12 years, Schreiter served as a theological consultant to Caritas Internationalis for its programs in reconciliation and peace building, and continues to work with organizations and groups around the world in peace building.
