Music Composition by Edward Strauman, Ph.D. Selected in International Competition for Performance

Strauman is currently on a sabbatical leave and has been spending his time composing and submitting works to national and international competitions. In order to be selected for Fifteen Minutes of Fame, Strauman had to compose a work for a string quartet that is 60 seconds or less in length and incorporates modern string techniques. The premise of Strauman’s theme, “Don’t Breathe a Word,” is inspired by a fictitious film noir, Give ‘M Daylight. His composition was one of 15 compositions selected and 100 composers and musicians submitted works for consideration.

Fifteen Minutes of Fame is an innovative project that highlights the works of 15 contemporary musicians and composers. The project is a part of Composer’s Voice, a concert series that features the works of composers and musicians, giving them an opportunity to express their aesthetic and personal voice. Fifteen Minutes of Fame was created by producer, composer and Vox Novus music collective founder Robert Voisey as a means for composers to have their works performed and heard by audiences around the world. There have been more than 60 performances of Fifteen Minutes of Fame at venues in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Tel Aviv, and Rio de Janeiro, to name a few.
