Doylestown Resident Honored at School’s 20th Anniversary Celebration

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Chestnut Hill College alumna Kathleen Rex Anderson, Ed.D. ’66 was honored for her contributions toward the success of the School of Continuing & Professional Studies (SCPS) as the College celebrated the school’s 20th Anniversary this past May.

SCPS — or the ACCELERATED Division of the College, as it was initially called — offered its first courses in 1996. Under the able guidance of Dr. Anderson, who was Dean of SCPS from 1995 to 2002, the program added five new programs to its original two and offered courses at three different sites in addition to the main campus. The student population began to increase consistently over these first years.

Dr. Anderson has held numerous positions in a variety of educational settings, including as a teacher and principal in K-12 schools before embarking on a career in higher education. In 1990, Kathleen returned to CHC to serve her alma mater in several positions. Over the years, she has been the Special Assistant for Graduate Programs, Director of Development, Dean of SCPS and Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Later in her career, Dr. Anderson served as the Dean, Vice President of Academic Affairs and then as President of Valley Forge Military College, Pa. from which she retired in 2014.

In 2014, Kathleen returned once again to her alma mater and currently holds the position of Assistant to the President for Special Projects. Dr. Anderson said that “supporting the success of CHC is her ultimate professional goal.”
