CHC Celebrates and Supports Student Scholarship with 9th Annual Gala
Chris and Kathleen Matthews are the honorees.

PHILADELPHIA — Chestnut Hill College will hold its 9th Annual Scholarship Gala on Saturday, May 5 in CHC’s Sorgenti Arena.  CHC’s annual gala allows friends of the college to enjoy a spectacular and elegant night of fine dining and music, but most importantly, to support CHC’s student scholarship program – all proceeds go directly to support student academic scholarships.

The evening also is a chance to recognize and honor one, or in this case, two special friends of CHC for their service, support of education and dedication to the college. This year’s honorees are Christopher and Kathleen Matthews.

Chris and Kathleen Matthews are lifelong philanthropists and active in many charitable causes. Chris, an author and award-winning journalist, is perhaps best known for his nightly talk show Hardball with Chris Matthews. Kathleen is a marketing and public affairs expert, a highly respected former news anchor, and is currently active in politics.

The Matthews have long held the missions of the Sisters of Saint Joseph and Chestnut Hill College close to their hearts, as Chris had two aunts who were sisters, Agnes Shields, SSJ, and Eleanor Shields, SSJ. They each also received Honorary Doctor of Laws degrees in 1994.

For the many ways the Matthews serve, Chestnut Hill College is proud to recognize Chris and Kathleen as the 9th Annual Scholarship Gala honorees.

Emcees for the gala are NBC10 reporters Pamela Osborne and Brandon Hudson.
