PHILADELPHIA, PA – George Diemer, Ph.D., assistant professor of business, was mentioned in an ESPN Magazinearticle, “Portrait of a Point Shaver” for a study that was published in the International Journal of Sport Finance last August. The article is a feature story in the March 2014 “Conspiracy” Issue about the College point shaving ring at the University of San Diego.  
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Chestnut Hill students! Are you interested in improving educational programs and activities? Use your voice and make sure you complete the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) this year!  On February 11, the invitation to participate will be sent to selected students via email. The higher the student participation, the more accurate reports will be about the student experience at CHC. The survey can be completed via email and takes twenty minutes.
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Lawrence Little, Ph.D., associate professor of African American history at Villanova University will present the lecture, “Catholic Social Thought, Black Theology, and the Struggle for Civil Rights in America” on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 7 p.m. in the East Parlor, St. Joseph Hall. The lecture, held in commemoration of Black History month, is sponsored by the history program, the History Club, and Phi Alpha Theta, the National History Honor Society. 
Philadelphia, PA – (1/24/2014) – The Collegeville Classic held on January 24 at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa., marked the first competition for the Chestnut Hill College men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track team’s inaugural season. The Griffin men placed 10th out of 10 teams with 22 total points while the Griffin women ranked 15th of 15 teams with four points. West Chester University claimed first in the women’s team results, 90.50 total points, while their men’s side tied York College and St. Joseph’s University with 71 total points apiece. 
PHILADELPHIA, PA. - Women’s tennis senior captain Kelly Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio), who embodies what it means to be a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) DII student-athlete at Chestnut Hill College, has been selected as one of five finalists for the 10th Annual Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup. Founded by Athletes for a Better World (ABW), a non-profit organization committed to changing the culture of American sports, the Wooden Cup is unique award presented annually to athletes, collegiate and professional, who serve as outstanding role models. 
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Kevin Petti, Ph.D., professor in the departments of science and health at San Diego Miramar College will present the lecture, “Anatomy Italiana: From the Renaissance Dissection Theater to the Sistine Chapel,” at the 21st Annual Biomedical Lecture Series on Wednesday, February 12, at 3 p.m. in the East Parlor, St. Joseph Hall.

The reception was sponsored by the Office of Global Education at the College.

PHILADELPHIA, PA – In a recent study released by The Institute for College Access & Success, Chestnut Hill College was named one of 20 public and private colleges and universities with the lowest student debt after graduation. The study, which was featured in the Chronicle of Higher Education and on Nerd Wallet.com, names Chestnut Hill as one of the top schools in the nation for having low debt levels using the Class of 2012 as their data model.
PHILADELPHIA, PA- The School of Graduate Studies at Chestnut Hill College is pleased to announce that Ashley Miller, M.S., a 2012 graduate of the Administration of Human Services program was selected to present at the 2013 National Organization of Human Services Conference in Baltimore, Md. in late October.
PHILADELPHIA, PA – John Ebersole, MFA, director of the Writing Center at the College has been named poetry editor at the Philadelphia Review of Books, a general interest, Philadelphia-centric online magazine that presents reviews of new books, essays and narratives on topics such as politics, literature, art, film, sports, food, science and the media. 
PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Psychological Services Clinic of Chestnut Hill College is now offering a series of low-cost pre-marital counseling sessions tailored toward couples preparing for marriage. Couples will meet with a trained clinician to discuss topics such as communication, making joint decisions, and honesty. The six-session series will be tailored to addressing the unique needs of each couple in order to help them best prepare for their upcoming marriage.  
PHILADELPHIA - On October 31, 2013, the partnership was sealed between two institutions of higher education with the primary goal of providing access to a college education for the sisters in West Africa.   Chestnut Hill College President Carol Jean Vale, SSJ, Ph.D. and Professor James Hawkins Ephraim, Vice Chancellor of the Catholic University College of Ghana (CUCG), located in Fiarpe, Ghana, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together to offer online distance learning classes to women religious in Africa beginning in the fall 2014. 
Chestnut Hill College had more than 70 walkers participate as part of the “Lynette’s Griffins” team at the Autism Speaks walk on November 2nd at Citizens Bank Park. The College’s team, named in honor of Lynette Bishop, an alumna of Chestnut Hill College who passed away shortly after her 2010 graduation, raised $1800 for Autism Speaks through online donations and raffles. Joining Chestnut Hill’s Council for Exceptional Children on the walk was the College’s women’s softball and soccer teams, Lynette’s mother and family members, and Tony Coelho, author of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Chestnut Hill College Mask & Foil Drama Club presents Mark Dunn’s contemporary dramatic comedy, “A Delightful Quarantine” on Friday, November 22 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, November 23 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the College Auditorium located at 9601 Germantown Avenue.  
PHILADELPHIA, PA- Chestnut Hill College will host a Writer’s Forum on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 from 5:15 p.m. – 6:15 p.m. in the Redmond Room, St. Joseph Hall. Now in its second year, the Writer’s Forum, sponsored by the Department of English and Communications, allows students and aspiring writers the opportunity to learn about different types of creative writing through a question and answer session with a panel of seasoned writers. 
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Chestnut Hill College will host the lecture “Your Name is Renée: Ruth Kapp Hartz’s Story as a Hidden Child in Nazi-Occupied France.” on Tuesday, November 19, at 4:30 p.m. in the East Parlor, St. Joseph Hall. The lecture is sponsored by the Chestnut Hill College History and Women’s Studies programs, and the College’s chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the National Honor Society for History.
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Three Chestnut Hill College students in the School of Undergraduate Studies had the opportunity to work on research projects with faculty mentors over the summer thanks to a grant from the Council of Independent Colleges/Foundation for Independent Higher Education UPS New Ventures Fund and the Association for Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania (AICUP) with support from the Southeastern Consortium for Higher Education (SEPCHE). 
PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Soldiers Project of Pennsylvania will host a screening of the groundbreaking, award-winning documentary “The Invisible War” on Wednesday, November 13 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in the East Parlor, St. Joseph Hall on the College campus. The screening will be followed by a discussion of the film and available resources in combatting the epidemic of military sexual trauma.
