Chestnut Hill College (CHC) seeks a Director of Student Outreach and Success/Project Activity Director.  Founded by the Sisters of Saint Joseph, CHC is an independent, Catholic institution that fosters excellence by providing a holistic education within a strong liberal arts tradition.  The mission of the College is dedicated to serving the Dear Neighbor--student, faculty, staff, the surrounding community, and our global neighbors--without distinction. 

Supported by funds through the Title III Strengthening Institutions Program, the Director of Student Outreach and Success (DSOS)/Project Activity Director reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty (VPAA) and is responsible for advising at-risk students, developing and refining systems for student support and outreach, identifying best practices for student support, and using student outcomes data to advise Academic Affairs, Student Life, and Enrollment Management on matters related to retention and student success.  The DSOS will also serve as the activity director for Chestnut Hill College’s Dear Neighbor Project:  Building Stakeholder Engagement on an Enterprise Level, working with the VPAA to ensure that all aspects of grant activity are implemented in accordance with federal guidelines. The DSOS also will work with the External Evaluator to document progress in achieving activity objectives.

  • Master’s degree required.
  • Experience supporting at-risk students in an academic or student affairs role required.
  • Familiarity with best practices in student support and engagement required.
  • Experience working with student data in enterprise systems required.
  • Superior interpersonal communication and writing skills required.
  • Experience in academic advising, learning support, counseling, and/or institutional research required.
  • Work with data reporting systems related to student success preferred.
  • Experience designing and implementing campus-based Title III Strengthening Institutions Programs preferred.
  • Work with Undergraduate School Deans, the College Retention Committee, Director of Academic Advising and other advising offices, Counselors, Learning Centers, Career Development, Campus Life, and other College offices to provide immediate information regarding at-risk students.
  • Interact with the external evaluator with regard to reporting and assessment of program goals and outcomes.
  • Advise approximately twenty at-risk students.
  • Develop and refine systems for student reporting and outreach.
  • Identify best practices in student support and outreach and work with Academic Affairs and Campus Life to implement programs and activities reflecting those practices.
  • Participate in analysis and decision-making using student learning outcomes (SLO) assessment and institutional effectiveness assessment data including but not limited to SLO reporting, NSSE and AICUP student surveys, institutional retention data, and other internal and external reporting related to retention and student success.
  • Provide support for oversight and reporting related to Title III grant activities, including attendance at all Title III meetings and events.
  • Manage CHC Title III Program budget.
  • Advise Academic Affairs, Student Life, and Enrollment Management on matters related to retention and student success.
  • Pursue Financial Education Instructor certification to support financial literacy education programs.
