Director of Corporate, Foundation & Government Relations


Building partnerships between Chestnut Hill College and public and private organizations that share a similar commitment to education, the Director is actively engaged in working to establish long-term partnerships and strengthen existing relationships that will result in funding for the immediate and long-term goals of the College. The Director provides the expertise to advance the College’s interests by researching and identifying sources of support, proactively seeking opportunities to generate new proposals, and maintain relationships.  

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. 
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of grants experience with evidence of progressive responsibility and success in pre and post award activities, including prospect identification, preparing proposals and applications, budget development, stewardship and reporting.
  • Exceptional writing skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to work comfortably and diplomatically with a variety of audiences, both inside and outside the College community.
  • Experience with government and politicians preferred. 
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities
  • Understanding of proposal/grant budgets and financial statements.
  • Familiarity with state, federal and private funding sources.
  • Familiarity with fundraising software systems such as Raiser's Edge and Foundation Center.
  • Experience in an academic setting preferred, with an understanding of and appreciation for a private liberal arts education.
  • Build and maintain relationships with our elected officials and their staff. 
  • Ensure that the College always has at least one (and preferably more) lines in the itemized budget for RACP. 
  • If currently engaged, manager our lobbyist and ensure that the College gets a good return on investment. 
  • Shepherd RACP, coordinating lobbying efforts, and maintaining a presence (at least monthly) in Harrisburg, and in Philadelphia City Hall (at least every week). 
  • Identify corporate and foundation prospects and develop effective solicitation strategies to secure funding for campus priority initiatives.
  • Strategically link institution and programmatic initiatives with opportunities for fundraising. 
  • Develop written proposals for corporate, foundation and select government prospects to support College priority goals.  Submit at least 12 new proposals annually. 
  • Manage all activity associated with current partnerships, including but not limited to:  WW Smith, Maguire, Bretzlaff, Tichenor-Greer, and Christ scholarship funds. 
  • Monitor proposal deadlines, prepare and edit reports and manage stewardship for all foundation and corporate gifts. 
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of current and planned programs and priority initiatives for the purposes of accurately and persuasively communicating achievements and goals to prospective donors.
  • Comply with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors, and assist in developing stewardship plans for corporate and foundation donors.
