Assistant Athletic Trainer

Purpose: 

Chestnut Hill College is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer. Chestnut Hill College is a steadily growing Division II institution with 18 varsity teams. This position is responsible for providing assistance to the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine in coordination of athletic training services including prevention, evaluation, treatment, documentation, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and maintenance of the athletic training facility.  The department is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to enhance our collaborative student-athlete healthcare team. This is a full-time 10-month position with full benefits, and paid continuing education/NATA dues.

Requirements: 
  • Must be NATABOC certified in good standing; Maintain a PA licensure or eligible.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. One of the degrees must be from a CAATE accredited athletic training program.
  • 1-3 years of athletic training experience, preferably in a college/university environment.
  • ARC Professional Rescuer or AHA BLS CPR certification required, ARC or AHA instructor preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, SWAY Concussion Management Software, and Injury Tracking Software (ATS, SportsWare, etc).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to function in a service and team oriented environment with a variety of individuals including faculty, students, staff, parents, alumni, other healthcare providers, media, etc.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to function independently, attends to detail, work under pressure and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early AM, evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Strong commitment to the value of intercollegiate athletics in a higher education environment.
  • Position involves inside both sedentary work, and coverage at the field/courts on different playing surfaces such as grass, turf, dirt, and wood floors.
  • The job requires spending time outside during practices and games occasionally in the elements such as rain, heat and cold.
  • Lifting moderate weight is required such as but not limited to set up and breakdown of water coolers, ice chests, and patient assistance on treatment tables.
Responsibilities: 
  • Coverage of assigned practices and games, as well as treatments, and team physician hours in the training room.
  • Provide evaluation, treatment, and functional rehabilitation of student-athlete injuries on the field and in the athletic training facility.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records including injury notes, pre-participation forms, and insurance claims.
  • Provide appropriate medical referrals when necessary.
  • Clean and sanitize athletic training room and modalities.
  • Assist in the supervision of student workers and as a preceptor for athletic training students.
  • Represent Chestnut Hill College at appropriate conferences and NCAA meetings when necessary.
  • Pre-game setup and post-game breakdown of athletic training supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all student-athletes and College information.
  • Communication and collaboration with other members of the healthcare team when necessary including athletic trainers, team physicians, strength coach, team coaches, and other providers.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer
