Women Veterans ROCK Presents: 2020 Civic Leadership Institute at Chestnut Hill College

September 28, 2019 - 2:00pm to 5:00pm
Location:
Chestnut Hill College

The college and Women Veterans ROCK are co-hosting a celebratory kickoff of the Women Veterans ROCK Civic Leadership Institute on September 28 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at our beautiful campus at 9601 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118 and we would be thrilled to welcome you!

Women Veterans ROCK is a coalition of 200 women veteran organizations and advocacy groups with a membership of more than 25,000. WVR supports women veterans and military families, assisting them in the areas of housing, employment, education, financial stability, and health and wellness. Its mission is to engage and empower women and girls from military families so they can have successful, fulfilling post-military lives, as the organization believes it’s no longer the “Year of the Woman,” but “The Era of Women.”

It’s a rare opportunity to connect with women veterans and show support for a group of Americans who deserve recognition and advocacy. The event will feature U.S. Rep. and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard will deliver a message at the event via Skype. Also offering words of support via video is Pete Buttigieg, a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate and the mayor of South Bend, Indiana. Other speakers include U.S. Rep. Dwight Evans, State Rep. Mary Jo Daley, and Philadelphia Councilperson David Oh. “Stand Up, Be Counted” begins at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Chestnut Hill College. It is sponsored in part by Comcast NBC Universal and AARP Pennsylvania.

The event is geared toward military women and military families and we will have national and local media outlets on campus that day.

Chestnut Hill College is proud of our partnership with Women Veterans ROCK. The work the group does will have an impact on public policy both locally and nationally.
