Veteran's Day Flag Raising and Presentation of Bruyere Award

Veteran's Day Flag Raising and Presentation of Bruyere Award

November 10, 2021 - 10:30am
Location:
Flagpole Outside SJH; East Parlor for Reception

This Veterans Day, we invite you to join the Chestnut Hill College community as we gather around the flag to honor all veterans, living and deceased, with a memorial on campus, recognizing the sacrifice of those who have served or are currently serving in the Armed Forces. After the presentation, we invite you to stay for a special ceremony for a new award established in memory of Kathleen Donahue Bruyere, USN, Ret. ’66.

Fearless, outspoken and committed, Captain Bruyere was a trailblazer and a lifelong leader in the fight for women’s rights. The Captain Kathleen Donahue Bruyere Champion for Change Award will be awarded for the first time to a member of the CHC community who is a catalyst for positive change in society. Embodied in the spirit of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, we are looking to recognize those who are addressing the needs of the time. We are thrilled to honor Captain Bruyere’s groundbreaking legacy through this award.

At 10:30 AM we will gather at the flagpole for a flag-raising ceremony. Following that, join us in the East Parlor for the award presentation, refreshments, and socializing. All campus COVID policies will be in place. For first year students, this event will count as a PASSPORT Event.
