Ambitious goal met and exceeded!

Ambitious goal met and exceeded!

March 20, 2019

Thank you everyone who participated in Day of Giving, March 19, 2019! It was a whirlwind 24 hours of giving and gratitude that saw records broken, an ambitious goal met and exceeded, and an exciting end to the online campaign!

This year’s total of more than $35,000 exceeds the goal of $31,909.19. A thousand thanks!

Students and young alumni participated in record numbers, and your gifts are tangible proof of both your commitment to Chestnut Hill College and your understanding that every gift counts. Your enthusiastic participation is sincerely appreciated and bodes well for the future of CHC.

The Day of Giving wouldn’t have been a success without those who made gifts of $50 or less. All in all, these loyal, selfless members of our community made up 67 percent of all participants. We are grateful for each and every one of you, whose gifts help to strengthen the College for the future.

Many of you made your gift in thanks for someone who has positively influenced your life, such as parents, classmates, professors, coaches, and more. It was fitting that on this St. Joseph’s Day our beloved Sisters of St. Joseph were most often honored. In the process, we all learned more about the wonderful women, past and present, who have made this College the warm and caring community of learners that it is today.

Notable challenge gifts were made by two members of the College’s Board of Directors, Kent Griswold and Thomas Queenan, who made their respective gifts in honor of Lori Griswold (Kent’s wife) and William J. Patton (Thomas’s recently deceased father). In addition, Jeanie Schwille ’65 offered a two-part challenge in memory of Sister Dorothy Hennessey. All these challenges were met with enthusiasm as the campaign swept along, and the final gift that got us across the finish line was made by Paul Corbley Sr., husband of the late Sally Anne Corbley ’73.

Special thanks to the Day of Giving Ambassadors: Samantha Covais ’20, Christopher Bunn ’20, Stephanie Williams ’07, Jay Acevedo ’21, and professors Marie Conn, Lauren Barrow, and Karen Wendling. Together, they instilled a spirit of competitiveness in the community and pushed for this year’s ambitious goal!

Thank you again, and keep an eye on the giving page www.chc.edu/dayofgiving as the total continues to increase!
