This past spring, seven CHC students, one faculty mentor, and one staff member joined their team partners from Marywood University to serve their brothers and sisters in the developing country of Kenya. The group spent three weeks at various service sites (teaching at an elementary school, mentoring rehabilitated street girls and boys, volunteering at a home for AIDS orphans, helping to set up a health clinic, attending a worship service with women prisoners, among other services). Each day featured opportunities to experience wonder, joy compassion, surprise, humility, and discoveries about themselves they couldn’t have even imagined before taking part in the trip.
In 2025, Chestnut Hill College, through the African Sisters Education Collaborative, will once again be traveling to Africa for a service learning trip. In addition to learning more about last year’s trip, this session will provide information on next year’s trip and what to expect. If you are interested in traveling to Africa this spring, consider attending this session or the session on November 13th to learn more.
For first-year students, this is a PASSPORT event.
