Lights for Liberty: A Vigil to End Human Detention Camps

July 12, 2019 - 12:30pm
Location:
Chestnut Hill College Peace Pole; Lovett Park (6945 Germantown Ave., Phila, PA 19119)

On Friday, July 12th, 2019, Lights for Liberty: A Vigil to End Human Detention Camps, will bring thousands of Americans to detention camps across the country, into the streets and into their own front yards, to protest the inhumane conditions faced by refugees. Vigils will be held at many sites all over the US.

Chestnut Hill College and the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia will join with other local organizations as sponsors of a local event as part of this moment. Many will gather in NW Philadelphia at Lovett Park (Event location Lovett Park • 6945 Germantown Ave, Philadelphia, 19119, PA) to protest the inhumane, despicable treatment of those fleeing persecution. The vigil in Lovett Park will be held from 5 to 6 PM.

A van will leave campus at 4:15 PM for those who wish to travel together. Of course, you are welcome to drive and meet us there. If you wish to travel in the van, please email Sister Colleen Dauerbach (cdauerbach@ssjphila.org) by Tuesday, July 9.

In addition to participating in the evening vigil, we will gather for prayer at 12:30 on Friday. Weather permitting, we will meet at the peace pole.
