CSIT Presents: "Great Unsung Women of Computing" Movie Screening and Discussion

September 27, 2022 - 6:00pm
Location:
East Parlor, St. Joseph Hall, Chestnut Hill College

The CSIT Department is hosting a Movie Viewing & Conversation of Great Unsung Women of Computing. Great Unsung Women of Computing is a series of three remarkable documentary films that show how women revolutionized the computing and Internet technology we use today, inspiring female students to believe that programming careers lie within their grasp.

Gini Calcerano, who is on staff at CHC and is the daughter of John Mauchly and Kathleen McNulty, will speak on ENIAC, the world's first computer that both of her parents worked on. McNulty, a graduate of CHC, was one of six women who worked behind the scenes to help program the early computer. Their story was truly unsung until recently as efforts have been made to acknowledge the group of women who were instrumental in the creation of the computer.

This event is FREE to attend and is open to the public. Please contact Andrea Wentzell (wentzella@chc.edu) with any questions or accomodations requests.
