Philadelphia Councilman and renowned real estate developer Allan Domb visits Chestnut Hill College this February to speak to students about the ins and outs of real estate development and the ways City Hall is working to better the lives of citizens and small businesses.

Domb will speak at Chestnut Hill College on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 12:30 p.m. in the East Parlor of Saint Joseph Hall. Local residents and business owners are invited to attend to learn more about a bill Domb is co-sponsoring that affects the taxation of small businesses in Philadelphia. The event is free and open to the public.

“Chestnut Hill College’s Department of Business is both pleased and excited to welcome Councilman Allan Domb to campus,” said Joseph A. Bucci, Ed.D., assistant professor and chair of the business department. “We are thrilled that our students will have the opportunity to meet both a business and a political leader who is blazing new ground in Philadelphia politics.”

In 2015, partly because of his extensive experience in real estate development and his in-depth knowledge of small business, Domb was elected as an at-large member to Philadelphia City Council. Since then, he has worked to lower the poverty rate, promote job growth, collect delinquent property taxes, increase high school graduation rates and create mentoring opportunities for children through partnerships with universities.

Domb, who has lived in Philadelphia for almost 40 years, was once ranked as the top residential real estate broker in the United States for nearly 20 consecutive years. Once referred to as the “Philly Condo King,” Domb has served twice as the president of the Greater Philadelphia Association of Realtors, advocating for the rights of private property owners and working with City Hall to bring new residents and businesses to the city. He has developed numerous properties in Center City, such as the Parc Rittenhouse, The Barclay and The Warwick.

By inviting Domb to campus, Chestnut Hill College looks to generate a dialogue between the councilman and students, particularly those majoring in business and political science. The opportunity for students to listen and meet with a notable businessperson and politician will encourage students both academically and personally.
