Assistant Professor of Psychology (DeSales Campus)

Salary Range: $60,000.00 To 65,000.00 Annually

The Center for Psychology at Chestnut Hill College invites applications for the Assistant Professor of Psychology position in the Master’s Clinical and Counseling program at the DeSales University campus.  This is a full-time, non-tenure track position beginning August 2024. This is a 12-month appointment.

Chestnut Hill College, founded by the Sisters of Saint Joseph in 1924, is an independent, Catholic institution that strives to foster equality through education. The College, situated in Chestnut Hill, a charming neighborhood in Northwest Philadelphia, serves a culturally diverse student body.  The College offers undergraduate and graduate programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching three courses each semester (Fall, Spring, Summer) in person at the DeSales University campus in Center Valley, PA. The assignment of courses will be based on the candidate’s experience and expertise, and may include general counseling courses as well as courses in an area of program concentrations (i.e. Assessment and Treatment of Children and Adolescents, Trauma, Co-Occurring Disorders, Diverse and Underserved Communities, and Couple and Family Therapy).
  • Student academic advisement

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated competence in teaching, supervision, and facilitation; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; strong oral and written communication skills; ability to develop proficiency in managing an electronic tracking system; and strong interpersonal, problem-solving, conflict resolution, communication, and writing skills.
  • Doctoral degree in a professional field related to Psychology or Counseling, licensed or license-eligible in Pennsylvania, clinical experience, and must maintain involvement in clinical practice or consultation.
    Strong identification with a contemporary psychodynamic and/or systemic perspective with training and experience within these models.
  • Commitment to culturally-informed assessment and treatment and social justice.
