Assistant/Associate Professor of Chemistry (Faculty/ 9 Months)

Salary Range: $50,000.00 To $50,000.00 Annually
Assistant/Associate Professor of Chemistry, Two (2) Positions Tenure Track

Purpose:

The Center for Natural and Behavioral Sciences at Chestnut Hill College (CHC) invites applicants for two (2) Assistant/Associate Professors of Chemistry positions. These are full-time, tenure track positions beginning in the Fall of 2025. These positions are 9-month appointments with a salary of $50,000.00 each.

  • Analytical Chemistry/Forensic Chemistry, or a related field; and
  • Organic Chemistry/Biochemistry, or a related field.

Chestnut Hill College offers majors in Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Forensic Chemistry in addition to supporting degree requirements in other natural science majors.  Faculty evaluations are based on contributions to teaching, scholarship according to the Boyer Model, and service to the community/college/discipline.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach Chemistry courses in the School of Undergraduate Studies (SUS) in specialty and additional General/Organic Chemistry courses/labs according to experience, specialty, and departmental need.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty in Natural and Behavioral Sciences in the delivery of undergraduate programs, teaching, and research.
  • Contribute to departmental duties such as curriculum development, assessment of student learning, and overall lab management.
  • Faculty are encouraged to develop research opportunities for students through coursework and internships.
  • Assist, advise, and mentor students in course selection, career development, and research pursuits.
  • Perform usual duties associated with a full-time faculty appointment.
  • Participate in service to the Center, the College, and to the profession.

Requirements:

  • Required a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field with a special focus in Analytical Chemistry/Forensic Chemistry (or related) for position one (1). College-level teaching experience preferred.
  • Required a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field with a special focus in Organic Chemistry/Biochemistry (or related) for position two (2).  College-level teaching experience preferred.
  • Ability to work well with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to the mission of Chestnut Hill College.
