Chestnut Hill College’s Institute for Religion and Science will host Ursula King, Ph.D., renowned scholar of spirituality, interfaith dialogue, women and religion at the Commonwealth Chateau on the SugarLoaf Campus Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m.

King will give a lecture titled: “Following the ‘Road of Fire’: The Emergence of Teilhard de Chardin’s Panchristic Mysticism during the First World War.”           

King will present Jesuit Pierre Teilhard de Chardin as one of the foremost Catholic thinkers to emerge from the First World War. She will explore his mysticism and his importance for contemporary issues of science and religion.

King is Professor Emerita of Theology and Religious Studies, and Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies, University of Bristol. She has lectured all over the world including: Germany, France, India and England. King has published numerous books and articles focused on gender issues in theological method and theory, modern Hinduism, interfaith dialogue, spirituality, and Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.
