Commencement Speaker Susan Corbett Mentioned In Philadelphia Magazine Blog Post Pennsylvania First Lady Susan Corbett, who will deliver the 84th commencement address at the College in May, was mentioned in the Philly Post blog on Philadelphia Magazine's Web Site. College "All-Steinway" Status Subject of Article in Chestnut Hill Local The College's newly acquired "All-Steinway" status was featured in the Noteworthy column of the Chestnut Hill Local. Education Professor Featured on CBS-3 and Metro Newspaper for Donating Books and Time to Local School Libraries Jessica Kahn, Ph.D., professor of education was featured for her work revitalizing school libraries on the "Brotherly Love" segment on CBS-3. Jessica was also the subject of a story that recently ran in The Philadelphia Metro. History Professor's New Book on Wissahickon Featured in Springfield Sun Article David Contosta, Ph.D., professor of history was interviewed by the Springfield Sun for his new book, "Metropolitan Paradise: The Struggle for Nature in the City - Philadelphia's Wissahickon Valley, 1620-2020." Contosta was also featured on WHYY Newsworks Web site for his MindMap interview. Dean of Continuing & Professional Studies Provides Tips in Philadelphia Metro Article on Returning to School as an Adult Elaine Green, Ed.D., dean of the School of Continuing & Professional Studies at the College was interviewed by the Metro on returning to school as an adult student. Chestnut Hill Choir Mentioned in Philly Burbs Article for Participating in PA Youth Chorale Concert The Hill Singers, a choral ensemble at the College, were mentioned for their participation in a Pennsylvania Youth Chorale Concert by the Phillyburbs.com Web site. Sister Helen Prejean Lecture Featured in Article on Catholic Standard and Times Web site and Alter.net Sister Helen Prejean's visit to the College on April 7 was featured in a story in the Catholic Standard and Times and Alternet.org, an award-winning news magazine and online community that creates original journalism and amplifies the best of other independent media sources. Local Alumna Featured in Inquirer Article for Helping with Fundraising Efforts for Japan Ikuko Yagawara '96 was featured in The Philadelphia Inquirer about her contributions to The Japanese Mothers' Association of Philadelphia (J-map) to raise money for the Japanese Red Cross for victims of the earthquake and tsunami. 
Women's Lacrosse Mentioned in Sports Brief in The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Press of Atlantic City Women's lacrosse players Nicole Covella and Kelly McKay were mentioned in an April 10, 2011 article for numerous goals in their recent win over Post University in The Philadelphia Inquirer. Nicole Covella was also featured in a sports brief in The Press of Atlantic City for being named the Central Atlantic Collegiate honorable mention women's lacrosse player of the week for the second time. Men's Tennis Featured in Chestnut Hill Local Story for Defeating Caldwell College The men's tennis team was featured in a recent edition of the Chestnut Hill Local for defeating Caldwell College. PA Lacrosse Web Site Features Griffins for Earning 4th Seed in CACC Championship Tournament The Web site www.palacrosse.com featured the men's lacrosse team for finishing their season with a win over Bloomfield University and for earning the 4th seed in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Tournament. 
Performathon Celebrates College's All-Steinway Status Chestnut Hill College will celebrate its newly acquired "All-Steinway" status with a weekend of events Friday, May 20 through Sunday, May 22 on the College campus. The Peformathon, sponsored by Jacobs Music and hosted by the College, will bring young musicians from the local area to play for the public and raise funds for the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House charity. This event, open to the public is estimated to raise more than $25,000 for Ronald McDonald House. During the Performathon, participating music students will have the opportunity to play the limited edition Walden Woods Steinway piano. The weekend will also include a celebration concert by Steinway performance artist Meral Güneyman, State artist of the Republic of Turkey and Grammy-nominated jazz artist as well as the presentation of the "All-Steinway" plaque to College President Carol Jean Vale, SSJ from Steinway & Sons President Ron Losby. Commencement Susan Manbeck Corbett, wife of Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett and former vice president of programs and development at the Gettysburg Foundation, will deliver the 84th commencement address at Chestnut Hill College on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 2 p.m. at an outdoor ceremony on the College's campus. The College will award 309 bachelor degrees, 205 graduate degrees as well as 11 doctoral degrees in clinical psychology during the ceremony. A Honorary Doctor of Laws degree will be awarded to Susan Corbett, wife of Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett and former vice president of programs and development at the Gettysburg Foundation, and a Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree will be awarded to Sister Constance FitzGerald, OCD, highly respected scholar and author known for her writings on John of the Cross and Teresa of Avila.
