Chestnut Hill College Student Featured in Philadelphia Business Journal Story on Graduate! Philadelphia
Kimberly Lowe, a student in the Accelerated program, was featured in the January 29, 2010 edition of The Philadelphia Business Journal in a story about Graduate! Philadelphia. The story also ran in the Pittsburgh Business Journal.
Former College history professor John Lukacs was mentioned in a Philadelphia Citypaper blog, “The Clog” about a book he published about populist movements.
The Roxborough Review mentions the $10,000 grant that the College received from PHENND (Philadelphia Higher Education Network for Neighborhood Development) in the January 13, 2010 edition of the paper.
Elaine Green, dean of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, was featured in a story on the College’s continuing education programs on Examiner.com during Catholic Schools Week. The College was also mentioned in a round-up article with other colleges featured on the Examiner Web site.
Time Out for Sports
Richard Carrington, coach of the men’s lacrosse team at the College was interviewed about the inaugural season for the Griffins for a story on Lacrosse Magazine’s Web site.
Julian Fernandez and Jackie Nevus, members of the men’s soccer team at Chestnut Hill, were mentioned in a sports round up in the Press of Atlantic City for making the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference 2009 Fall All-Academic Team.
Chestnut Hill College’s victory over Goldey-Beacom College is mentioned in the February 3, 2010 edition of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Larz Jeter, a member of the men’s basketball team was mentioned in a Delaware County Daily Times article for being named “Player of the Week” by the Sam Cozen Philadelphia Area Small College Coaches Association.
Alumni
Germantown Academy basketball coach Sherry Retif was featured in the January 30, 2010 edition of the Philadelphia Inquirer for balancing her career, classes in holistic spirituality at Chestnut Hill, and her family.
Celeste Mokrzycki, SSJ, an artist and alumna of the College, was mentioned in the Chestnut Hill Local for her watercolor exhibit, “Light from Above” at the College’s Dowley Gallery.
Jim Rockenbach and Marc Alfarano, science teachers at Norwood-Fontbonne Academy and graduates of the education program in the School of Graduate Studies, were featured in the “Your Neighbors” section of the Chestnut Hill Local.
Alumna Judith Dwyer, Ph.D., ’72 and president of Xavier University was interviewed for a story in Xavier’s magazine on “The Power of Community.”
Event Spotlight
The first annual Chestnut Hill College Scholarship Gala will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Rotunda, St. Joseph Hall. Guests will enjoy cocktails and dinner and will have the opportunity to meet Chestnut Hill College students who are assisted by academic scholarships. Highlights of the evening include dancing and a performance by students from the College’s Music Department Proceeds from the event will fund Chestnut Hill College academic scholarships. Sponsorship information must be received by February 28, 2010.
Tickets are $175 a person. Event sponsorship and advertising opportunities are available.
