Robert Meyer, Ph.D., professor of biology was including in the “On Topic” round-up on green careers in the August 13, 2009 edition of The Philadelphia Business Journal.
Junior Max Kaplan writes about Quidditch, his favorite sport, for AroundPhilly.com. His article includes facts about the game and its new found popularity, as well as videos of Chestnut Hill College students playing Quidditch.
Chestnut Hill College was mentioned in the August 7, 2009 article in The Philadelphia Tribune for one of the several organizations in the area to receive federal funding for projects. Chestnut Hill College will receive $100,000 for the Center of Environmental Sciences and Sustainability.
The Pittsburgh Post Gazette published an article about the Forrest Wood Cup, an annual fishing tournament run by FLW Outdoors. Two students from Chestnut Hill College are participating in the BassU program, allowing students to enter the tournament without fees.
David Contosta, Ph.D., professor of history is mentioned in The Chestnut Hill Local for moderating an event during the Chestnut Hill Book Festival.
Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference Winners Receive Recognition in Hometown Papers
Chestnut Hill College students who won awards at the 2009 Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference receive recognition in their hometown papers. Announcements of their accomplishments can been found in Town Talk (Delaware County) and The Call (Schuykill Haven).
More Graduates and Dean’s List Honors Recognized in Hometown Papers
Chestnut Hill College students continue to receive accolades for their academic work in their hometown newspapers this summer. Many local papers have published announcements about Dean’s List recipients, including The Pottstown Mercury, Coast Star (Manasquan, NJ) The Sentinel (Carlisle) and The Pike County Dispatch (Milford).
Graduation announcements have also appeared in The Sunday Times, (Primos) The Intelligencer (Doylestown) and The Rocket Courier (Wyalusing).

The LaxPower / Lacrosse News Web site featured Chestnut Hill College and the new lacrosse team in an interview with lacrosse coach Richard Carrington.
Chestnut Hill College Baseball Player Featured in Evening Call Article
Chestnut Hill College baseball player Robbie Williams is featured in an August 12, 2009 article in The Evening Call for helping his team win Game I of the Blue Mountain League Series.
Alumni
Alumna Kathleen Burton, SSJ, was appointed consultant to the Office of Religious Education/Faith Formation in the Archdiocese of Camden. Her appointment was reported in The Catholic Star Herald.
Alumna Celeste Mokrzycki, SSJ, ’79 was featured in Shore News Today for watercolor paintings she created that will be on display at the Atlantic City Art Center.
Alumna Bethann Castone ’06 was appointed assistant coach for the women’s basketball team at Holy Family University in Philadelphia. Castone was a guard for Chestnut Hill from 2003 to 2006, and in four seasons amassed 1,174 points for the Griffins.
Staff Spotlight: Jessica Hannan
Jessica Hannan, events and project manager at Chestnut Hill College was selected as one of the top five finalists in the running for Modern Bride Magazine’s “Modern Bride of the Year” contest. Hannan, of the Roxborough section of Philadelphia, was selected through a vigorous process for her passion for education and for her volunteer and community service to Big Brothers / Big Sisters and military support groups. The winner of “Modern Bride of the Year” will be featured on the cover of the December / January issue that goes on sale October 20, 2009 and announced on The Tyra Banks Show in October.
