Peter Dobson, Ph.D., dinosaur paleontologist at the University of Pennsylvania presents the lecture, “Reflections on Fossils and Faith” on Monday, April 2, at 7 p.m. at the Commonwealth Chateau, SugarLoaf campus. In his lecture, Dobson will discuss the two pillars in his life: his love for dinosaurs and his faith in God and how these two topics are connected. Panel Discussion "Walking Gently on the Earth: A Conversation about Ecology and Spirituality”

  Chestnut Hill College will sponsor a panel discussion, “Walking Gently on the Earth: A Conversation about Ecology and Spirituality” on Thursday, April 12 at 7 p.m. in the East Parlor, St. Joseph Hall. The panel is sponsored by the holistic spirituality program in the School of Graduate Studies.

In honor of Earth Day, the discussion will allow attendees to take part in a conversation about all things environmental, ecological, spiritual and sustainable.
The panel will consist of Mary Elizabeth Clark, SSJ, director of the Sisters of Saint Joseph Earth Center, Dr. Robert Meyer, professor of biology and Dr. Marie Conn, chair of the department of religious studies, philosophy, and the graduate program in holistic spirituality at the College. Graduate students Julie Morrison and Tracy Davidson, consumer reporter at NBC 10 will also be a part of the panel that evening. For more information, see press release.

"Faces of Forgiveness" Event to Feature Musician Peter Katz and Michael Berg

The Institute for Forgiveness and Reconciliation at Chestnut Hill College will host “Faces of Forgiveness” on Tuesday, April 17, at 7 p.m. in Sorgenti Arena, Martino Hall. Using music and stories to capture and question, the evening’s purpose is to inspire and challenge our understanding of forgiveness in the face of unspeakable violence and personal harm and hurt.

Peter Katz, Canadian songwriter and musician will perform a concert featuring the song, “Forgiveness” written by Katz to honor Michael Berg, father of Nicholas Berg, a brutally murdered American worker in Iraq by Al Qaida in 2006. After the concert, Michael Berg will share his story of refusing to perpetuate hate by celebrating the capture and killing of his son’s killer. For more information, see press release.

  Chestnut Hill College will host a discussion featuring Jim Goodman, a representative from The Hunger Project on Wednesday, April 18 from 7 to 8 p.m. in Gruber Theatre. Goodman will be speaking about The Hunger Project’s mission and their partnership with FeelGood Club. The Hunger Project is a non-profit organization committed to ending world hunger and poverty by pioneering sustainable, grassroots, women-centered strategies and advocating for their widespread adoption in countries throughout the world.

FeelGood Club will also be selling grilled cheese sandwiches before and after the event from 6:30 to 7 p.m. and 8 to 8:30 p.m. in Fitzsimmons Hall.

Third Annual Lily's Loop for the March of Dimes

  Chestnut Hill College will host the third annual Lily’s Loop Walk for the March of Dimes on Wednesday, April 18, from 2 to 3 p.m. on the Summerhouse Lawn of the College campus. The event is sponsored by the Chestnut Hill College chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC).

The event is held in honor of Lily Driscoll, the niece of Sister Marie Bambrick, coordinator for Teach for America and Philadelphia Teaching Fellows at the College. Lily was born premature and has overcome many obstacles to lead a healthy, happy life. Since then, Lily’s family have become ambassadors for the March of Dimes and give back by fundraising to help other babies now that have, or will share Lily's experiences.

The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
