The Institute for Forgiveness and Reconciliation 5th Anniversary Celebration

 Father Greg Boyle, author of “Tattoos on the Heart” and founder of Homeboys Inc. will speak at Chestnut Hill College for the 5th Anniversary of the Institute for Forgiveness and Reconciliation on Tuesday, March 11 at 7 p.m. in Sorgenti Arena, Martino Hall.

Father Boyle will discuss “We are one: It’s all about Kinship.” The Institute for Forgiveness and Reconciliation was launched in 2008 to be a learning laboratory for research and scholarship where forgiveness and reconciliation will be explored as alternatives to violence and conflict in our culture.

Institute for Religion and Science Lecture on New Axial Age and the History of Religion

theology, world religions, and culture at Union Theological Seminary will present the lecture, “Is the History of Religions on the Brink of a New Axial Age?”on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 7 p.m. at the Commonwealth Chateau, SugarLoaf Hill campus. This lecture is sponsored by the Institute for Religion and Science at Chestnut Hill College.

Prizes include a $50 and $25 visa gift card to the lucky participants closest to the actual March Madness Bracket, and a $25 Gift Card to Pizza Hut or Dominoes to the winner of the loser bracket raffle. Chestnut Hill College will host the United States Army Field Band Chamber Brass Ensemble Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the Redmond Room, St. Joseph Hall.
 
The U.S. Army Field Band Chamber Brass is an official ensemble of The United States Army Field Band. Formed in 2003 and consisting exclusively of members of the Concert Band, the Chamber Brass provides exciting musical performances for the general public, college and university audiences, as well as serving as a component of the Army Field Band's educational outreach program.

Philalea Piano Trio Performance

Chestnut Hill College will host the chamber music ensemble, Philalea, on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in the Rotunda, St. Joseph Hall.

Philalea features Andreia Torain on violin, Linda Metzler on cello and Elise Auerbach on piano. The trio met while rehearsing for a concert in 2012 and have been performing together since, making chamber music relevant and enjoyable for modern audiences.

5th Annual Lily's Loop

 The Council for Exceptional Children at Chestnut Hill College (CEC) will sponsor the Fifth annual “Lily’s Loop Walk,” benefitting Lily’s Hope Foundation on Wednesday, March 26, at 2 p.m. starting at the Piazza. 

The event is held in honor of Lily Driscoll, the niece of Sister Marie Bambrick, coordinator for Teach for America and Philadelphia Teaching Fellows at the College. Lily was born prematurely and has overcome many obstacles to live a healthy, happy life.

The Lily’s Hope Foundation supports babies, children and their families with urgent needs due to premature birth through involvement with the March of Dimes as well as helping families directly. Since Lily’s birth, , Lily’s family has worked closely with the March of Dimes to give back by fundraising to help other babies that share Lily's experiences. Students in CEC are making additional fundraising efforts for Lily’s Hope Foundation by selling raffles for novelty baskets to the College community and hosting a movie night before the walk.
