The Institute for Forgiveness and Reconciliation presents the program, “JUST Listening” on Friday, March 8 from 9:30 a.m.-noon in the East Parlor, St. Joseph Hall.
JUST Listening is an effort to foster social change by practicing, promoting and teaching other-centered, compassionate, and non-judgmental listening skills. The program is an essential tool in helping to promote civility and learn skills in dialogue.
Sharon Browning will present the JUST Listening program. She is the former executive director of Philadelphia Volunteers for the Indigent Program (VIP), the hub of pro bono legal services in Philadelphia, and also taught for 15 years in the Sociology Department at Chestnut Hill College. She is a trained mediator, retreat facilitator, spiritual guide and teacher, focusing on the needs of marginalized individuals and groups.

Chestnut Hill College will host the 8th Annual United Nations Conference on Teaching Peace and Human Rights on Friday, March 15 at 9:30 a.m. in the East Parlor, St. Joseph Hall. This conference, a United Nations Academic Impact Event and sponsored by Global Education Motivators (GEM) will focus on "The Future We Want: A Better World Through Human Rights Education."
Changu Mannathoko, senior advisor for education at UNICEF will give keynote remarks at the conference.

Chestnut Hill College will host training for The Soldiers Project Pennsylvania on “Compassion Fatigue, Vicarious Traumatization, and Self Care for Mental Health Professionals” on Thursday, March 21 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the East Parlor, St. Joseph Hall.
The training will discuss the latest research findings on the neuro-psychological and socio-emotional manifestations of compassion fatigue and vicarious traumatization. Participants will learn how to recognize the signs that one might be struggling with compassion fatigue and/or vicarious traumatization or Secondary Traumatic Stress Disorder. Various self-care techniques will be explored for mitigating the effects of compassion fatigue/vicarious traumatization.
