Chestnut Hill College will host a training for The Soldiers Project on “Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (MTBI): Implications for Assessment and Treatment” on Thursday, October 4 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the East Parlor, St. Joseph Hall.
Two continuing education credits will be offered for social workers, professional counselors and marriage and family therapists. All members and guests who plan to attend the workshop will need to preregister to receive CEU certificates on the day of the trainings. There is a $25.00 charge for those attending who are not members of The Soldiers Project PA, with or without CEU’s. Payment can be made at the door. Chestnut Hill College will hold its 30th Annual Golf Invitational on Monday, October 8, 2012 at the Whitemarsh Valley Country Club in Lafayette Hill, Pa.
For three decades, the Chestnut Hill College Golf Invitational has played host to hundreds of the region's top business associates and community leaders. In that time, the Invitational has raised nearly $1 million in support of Chestnut Hill College. The day provides an excellent opportunity for professional networking while supporting some of Chestnut Hill’s brightest scholar-athletes.
Golfers will start the day with registration and brunch at 10 a.m., and a shotgun start at 11:30 a.m. The outing will conclude with cocktails and dinner at 5:00 p.m. and the presentation of prizes. Special activities throughout the day include a $5,000 putting contest, raffles, silent auction, skill awards, and a $1,000,000 hole-in-one contest.

Chestnut Hill College will host a poverty simulation, “Living on the Edge” on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. in Redmond Room, St. Joseph Hall. Sponsored by Kappa Delta Epsilon Honor Society and the Education Department, the event aims to increase awareness and promote social justice for the poor. The event is also co-sponsored by Student Activities, the Student Government Association, the Service Learning program, Campus Ministry, and the criminal justice, religious studies, and Psy.D. programs at the College.
Participants in the exercise will get to take a walk in the shoes of a family as they attempt to meet their obligations with limited resources.

Dale Pratt, Ph.D., professor of Spanish and comparative literature at Brigham Young University will lecture on “The Aesthetics of Prehistoric Iberian Rock Art” at Chestnut Hill College on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the Redmond Room, St. Joseph Hall.
In the course of his research on contemporary novels set in prehistoric Iberia (Spain and Portugal), Dr. Dale Pratt has interviewed writers and archeologists and has gained extraordinary access to caves in Spain and Portugal in which prehistoric art is located. He will share his experiences at these and other archeological sites.

Author and humanitarian Carl Wilkens will speak at Chestnut Hill College on Tuesday, October 16, at 4 p.m. in the East Parlor, St. Joseph Hall.
Carl Wilkens, author of the memoir “I’m Not Leaving: Rwanda Through the Eyes of the Only American to Stay in Kigali During the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi” will speak about his experiences and personal first-hand accounts of life for the people of Rwanda as their country collapsed as well as stories of those who stood up against the killers.

On the final night, they decided the least drunk would drive home. The next morning, three of the men were dead, and Mark lay in the hospital critically injured and facing three felony counts of DUI manslaughter. Instead of being the first in his family to graduate college, Mark ended up the first member of his family to go to prison for his role in the tragic death of his three friends.
